Ecclestone: Charlie saw it, heard it and did it all

The sudden death of Formula 1 race director Charlie Whiting is a huge blow for the sport and leaves impossible shoes to fill, according to his former boss Bernie Ecclestone as tributes flowed in for a pillar of the sport. Whiting, 66, died overnight in Melbourne of a pulmonary embolism, three days before the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. The governing FIA announced Australian Michael Masi would take over Whiting’s duties.
