Pirelli unveils wider 2017 F1 tyres

Pirelli Media Formula 1 tyre supplier Pirelli has unveiled their wider specification of rubber which it will use under revised regulations in 2017. Under next year's technical regulations, an increase in the permitted levels of downforce means that lap times are set to be quicker, meaning Pirelli has opted to produce wider tyres. The wider tyres will predominantly aid the increased lap times through better cornering speed and acceleration. The front tyre, which is currently 245mm wide, will increase to 305mm.
