2015 Qualifying format set to return from Chinese GP onwards

Chinese Grand Prix – The qualifying format used up until the end of 2015 is set to return for the remainder of this year's championship, provided it is ratified in the coming days. The elimination style qualifying rolled out for the start of the 2016 season has met with derision from all parties since the Australian GP, with the team bosses who had previously voted in favour of it crying for its dismissal immediately after Melbourne qualifying. Despite his driver taking pole position, Merc team boss Toto Wolff hailed the format as ‘terrible' while Red Bull boss Christian Horner felt F1 ‘owed fans an apology'.
