Vettel: Spa strategy was never risky

Sebastian Vettel has defended Ferrari's decision to put him on a one-stop strategy at the Belgian Grand Prix, saying it was 'never risky'. The German rose to third place in the closing stages, as rival drivers pitted, and was holding off Romain Grosjean's Lotus when his right-rear tyre failed on the penultimate lap. He was fuming after the race and branded Pirelli's tyres 'unacceptable'. F1's tyre supplier then responded by saying stint guidelines shared to teams in late 2013 were ignored. Vettel posted a statement on his official website defending Ferrari and saying the Maranello-based outfit's decision has his full support.
