Sainz: Sparks can be unpleasant

While the titanium skid plates may have sparked interest amongst fans, Carlos Sainz has revealed it can be rather 'unpleasant' for the drivers. This season Formula 1 introduced titanium skid plates underneath all the cars. Scrapping the asphalt, the titanium shoots off sparks, a great sight especially at grands prix such as last weekend's Bahrain night race. And although the sparks have gone down well with most, Toro Rosso rookie Sainz admits not all the drivers like them. 'It looks good on TV,' the Spaniard told Marca newspaper, 'but for the drivers it can be unpleasant as the sparks dazzle as they hit the visor.'
