Confirmed: Paddy Lowe to Mercedes

May 20th, 2013 (F1plus/J Leslie).- Lowe, who previously held the technical director role at McLaren, was given early release from his contract and will join Ross Brawn and Toto Wolff at the Mercedes team as their Executive Director (Technical). The news was hardly a secret, but for sure it came earlier than expected.  It was widely reported over the winter that the 51-year-old would make the move to Mercedes after his McLaren contract ran out. An agreement was made from both parties enabling Lowe to move to the Brackley bases squad earlier than planned.
